Article - Why Should Customers Have To Pay For Your Discount Card GO Outdoors?

 

In many industries there are a great variety of discount and rewarding schemes, such as discount cards and customer loyalty cards. Normally, you can head into a shop, pick up a card for free and then benefit from it; donating your loyalty to the business. By doing so, you will then be rewarded with free products or discounted products at the business.
This is how it should be, but for some businesses, this isn’t the case. Some companies ‘reward’ or thank their loyal customers in a different and quite frankly, backwards way.

Who is the guilty party for not honourably rewarding their customers?
For many avid or new campers, they often head to the well-known, typical high-street camping stores when they require tents, cooking equipment and camping accessories. It’s the same for all industries – people generally believe that when they use the services of a renowned business, the company name itself is enough to feel safe from being deceived. Think again. You’ve heard of GO Outdoors; you may have even bought some camping products from them; but have you recently paid for one of their discount cards? At GO Outdoors they offer a discount card, like most businesses. But the difference is that there is a £5 fee for one of their discount card.

Customers shouldn’t have to pay for their discount card
In our opinion, customers shouldn’t have to pay a single penny for discount cards. Why? Because they’re gracing your company by purchasing products from you and using your services. Therefore, they deserve to be rewarded for their custom and loyalty – you cannot operate without customers!
You could say that a customer has been rewarded simply by using your service and expertise – especially if they come away happy with the products they required. We believe that customers deserve to be rewarded further than just with our great customer service and quality products, especially if they show enough loyalty to return to you time and time again.

Paying any fee for a discount card rewards no one but the business
It is not worthwhile for you, as a customer, to pay a fee for a discount card – it’s not economical. GO Outdoor’s approach is disgusting. Who’s to say that you will be heading to the store regularly enough to really benefit from your discount card? There’s no guarantee, and so this means that even if you do not visit the store, your £5 discount card would have been for nothing. With no refunds, no rewards, no new products to hand, no deals, and worst of all no discounts, you are receiving nothing for your £5 loyalty to GO Outdoors.
