How to cope without internet

Remember those days a long time ago when we didn’t have internet, no Facebook, Twitter, Blogs? Yes, we can to, so we have created a quick, simple blog with some ideas to help you out just in case the world comes to an end as your teenagers might say and the internet goes down!

Playing board games

Most of the time spending time with your family outweighs spending time with your friends on social media, so why not get the whole family involved in some board games. Get your children to choose the games you are going to play, this will encourage them to be involved and engaged in the game.

Go on county walks

Getting your children outside can sometimes be as hard as trying to get those teenagers out of bed in the morning, but once they are out the whole world seems better. A country walk does not have to be a chore, it can be a relaxing walk set at a slow and steady pace. Why not collect leaves and sticks and much more along the way to create a collage when you get back to the campsite.

Read a book, magazine or newspapers

I’m sure we all read a good old paper when we get the chance, on our subway ride to work and on a campsite. And without internet, we think you have much more time on my hands. No 20 minutes on email here, or hour on Facebook there - that’s a lot of time to walk to the library to finish those items on your to-read list.

Building dens (Children mainly)

Who can truly say they have never built a den when they were younger? There was nothing better than going out into the woods and collecting the largest branches you could find then dragging them half a mile to your make shift den spot. Building dens are not just for children though, get the whole family involved in this by getting the parents to help where the children can’t reach and get the children to help find all the building materials. When building a den remember that the children are in charge of this, let them use their imagination and design the den how they want to, all your job is to, is to be told what to do by a 5 year old.

Get the whole campsite involved in a sports game

Why not go tent knocking (not what you think) and ask if they want to be involved in a sports game. Ask the campsite owners/managers first if a group sports game is allowed on the site and if so, then set a time and date and plan your activity. There are many different activity’s you can do from football to rounder’s to cricket. Again, why not ask the children of the campsite on what they want to do!
