Blog - 5 tips for sleeping in a tent

sleeping in a tent

Camping is the best activity in the world, but from time to time sleeping in a tent, especially when it is your fist time is a challenge.

There is nothing better than waking up from a good night sleep in a tent, waking up and breath the refreshing, crisp and clean air. We have thought long and hard about what 5 best tips we can give to you for sleeping while camping, so here it goes…

Warm up your sleeping bag

Most sleeping bags by themselves are not always warm when you get into them, instead how they work is they hold in the heat from your body while you are sleeping in them.

Have you ever noticed that when you are in your sleeping bag you can’t get warm, this is because your body is not warm enough before you get into it.

To solve this, we recommend you try and get warm before getting into your sleeping bag, you can do this is many different ways, from jumping up and down and looking like a right fool or by going for a quick jog before bed.

Condensation

Have you ever noticed when you have been camping in your tent that the side of your tent and underneath your sleeping mat are wet, this is called condensation.

Tents are designed to keep the water out, but at the same condensation builds up inside due to you being inside it and being all zipped up.

We believe to solve this, try creating a good ventilation for your tent. Most tents do have vents in them around various places so try and make use of these wherever possible. By venting you will get the condensation out meaning you will stay warmer and cosier for longer.

Keep you tent clean and free from rubbish

There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning to the smell of last night’s rotting dinner, even in the house this is not pleasant so make sure you take out all your rubbish before you go to bed.

By having a clean and tidy tent when you wake up in the morning you will be greeted by the fresh air no a horrible stench. By waking up in a good mood this will put you in a positive and happy mood for the day ahead.

Snoring

You have probably already guessed by now that snoring is very annoying, and its about x10 worse in a tent as sound carry’s through the walls easily.

If you are a light sleeping and are with someone who’s snores then make sure you bring ear plugs!

On a serious note there is lots to be done for snoring while staying in a tent, a good way to unwind is to find devices that have Bluetooth on board enabling them to connect to your iOS or Android device and play soothing sounds as your drift off. There’s much more to them, but some of it might take away from the countryside sounds of the morning.

Waking up in the morning

When you wake up in the morning from camping it can sometimes not be the warmest, but if you have a good sleeping bag then this will keep you warm and cosy.

To make life easier when getting out of your sleeping bag try putting your clothes on in the sleeping bag, this should take away the shock of the cold in the morning.
